Privacy Policy
About this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Singdu collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Singdu Android application, the Singdu KTV browser receiver and connected-screen features, and related music-based language-learning and community services (together, the “Service”).
By using Singdu, you acknowledge the practices described here. This policy should be read together with the Singdu Terms of Service.
Guest mode
You can explore limited features in guest mode without creating an online account. Guest learning progress, preferences, song history, and vocabulary activity are stored locally on your device rather than in a Singdu cloud profile.
Local app data is removed if you clear Singdu’s storage or uninstall the app. Singdu configures Android to exclude its local app data from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, although operating-system behavior outside Singdu’s control may change.
Information we collect
The information Singdu handles depends on the features you choose to use.
Account and sign-in information
If you register with email and password, Firebase Authentication processes your email address, password credential, account identifier, sign-in provider, and authentication activity. Singdu does not store a readable copy of your password in its profile or learning databases.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google and Firebase provide Singdu with account information you authorize, such as your name, email address, profile photo, and a unique account identifier. Google’s handling of that information is governed by your Google settings and Google’s privacy terms.
Profile and public information
When you use signed-in or community features, Singdu may store your display name, profile photo, join date, and account identifier. Your email address and password are not displayed on your public Singdu profile.
Other Singdu users may see or search information included in your community profile, including your display name, profile photo, profile frame, membership tier, level, experience points, streak, recent practice time, vocabulary count, top genre, top artists, join date, posts, reactions, and friend connections. Do not use a display name or profile photo you do not want other learners to see.
Learning activity and preferences
To provide progress tracking and cross-device sync for signed-in users, Singdu may store: • saved and newly collected vocabulary; • completed, favorite, shared, queued, and recently played songs; • song play and completion counts; • practice dates and practice duration; • experience points, streak-related data, and join date; • learning languages, levels, genre choices, and onboarding progress; and • player, lyric, translation, transliteration, history, and other app preferences.
Some preferences and cached progress are also stored locally on your device so the app can load quickly and continue to provide limited functionality offline.
Community activity
If you use community features, Singdu may process lyric-sharing posts, personal stories, reactions, friendships and friend requests, user blocks, community notifications, content reports, and related timestamps. Posts and profile information you choose to share are visible to other Singdu users who you have not blocked and who have not blocked you.
Reports are used to review safety, content quality, and potential violations. They may include your account identifier, the reported user or content, selected reasons, and relevant details.
Profile photos
If you select a profile photo, Singdu processes and compresses the selected image before storing it with your account. The Android system photo picker controls which image you grant Singdu access to; Singdu does not request general access to your photo library.
Feedback and support
If you send feedback through the app or contact us, we may receive your message, name, email address, account identifier, sign-in method, timestamp, and any other information you choose to include. We use this information to respond, troubleshoot, and improve Singdu.
Device and technical information
Singdu and its service providers may process technical information needed to deliver and secure the Service, such as an installation or messaging identifier, app environment, network availability, request timestamps, IP address, and basic device or connection information.
Singdu uses a Firebase Cloud Messaging installation identifier linked to your account to deliver optional community notifications. Singdu also uses Firebase Analytics to measure screen views, interaction types such as taps, long presses, and swipe directions, and product events such as onboarding, sign-in method, song selection and completion, vocabulary activity, sharing, feedback, KTV pairing and controls, and subscription-funnel actions. Analytics may use non-sensitive segments such as guest or account access, free or Pro membership, learning-language codes, song identifiers, genre, difficulty, translation language, and KTV destination type. These metrics do not include touch coordinates, pairing codes, search queries, lyric text, typed content, names, email addresses, profile fields, or other on-screen values. Advertising ID collection is disabled for Singdu's Firebase Analytics integration. Firebase may still process an app-instance identifier, masked IP-derived information, device and app information, and diagnostic information to provide aggregated usage metrics.
Singdu uses Firebase Crashlytics to identify crashes, non-fatal failures, and app-not-responding errors. Crash reports may include stack traces, app and device state, operating-system and app versions, environment, recent analytics breadcrumbs, and technical identifiers needed to group and diagnose failures. Singdu does not intentionally attach names, email addresses, lyric content, or typed input to crash reports.
The free experience also includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform SDK. The Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, app launches, taps, video views, ad requests and interactions, diagnostic and performance information, and device or account identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID and App Set ID for advertising, analytics, attribution, and fraud prevention. Where supported and permitted, it may also use Android advertising-topic and attribution signals. This advertising processing is separate from Firebase Analytics, so disabling Advertising ID collection for Firebase Analytics does not disable identifier processing by AdMob. The information used can vary with your device, location, consent choices, and Google or Android settings.
KTV and connected screens
When you choose KTV on a television or another screen, Singdu sends the selected song’s identifier, title, artist, source language, video or instrumental-audio link, lyrics, translations, transliteration or pronunciation guidance, highlighted vocabulary, display and playback settings, playback position, and control commands to the receiver you select. Highlighted words may reflect which vocabulary is new or relevant to you. Singdu does not include your name, email address, account identifier, profile, or complete learning history in the KTV session payload.
For Google Cast, the Android sender communicates with the selected Cast receiver. Google’s Cast SDK automatically processes anonymous device-discovery, session-management, mobile-device, SDK, and client-app information to operate and improve Cast. The selected receiver’s name may be displayed in the app.
For the Singdu KTV browser receiver, the browser derives a general label such as browser and operating-system family and creates a random pairing code. The label, code, creation and expiry times, and controller and receiver messages are stored temporarily in Firebase Firestore. The browser stores the code and expiry in session storage so the session can recover after a refresh. A pairing code acts as temporary access to that KTV session, so only share it with people you want to connect. Sessions become inaccessible when they expire, each renewal is limited to no more than 20 minutes, consumed messages are normally deleted promptly, and Firestore time-to-live policies delete expired session and message records afterward.
If you scan the KTV pairing QR code, Google code scanner performs image processing on the device and Singdu receives only the decoded pairing value. Google does not store the scanned image or result. The scanner and ML Kit may process device and app information, performance and diagnostic events, and, because Singdu enables auto-zoom, a temporary scanning-session identifier, zoom changes, and predicted barcode bounding-box coordinates for diagnostics and usage analytics.
AI-assisted catalog content
Singdu uses generative artificial-intelligence tools as part of the production process for Singdu Original songs and related catalog materials. This catalog-production activity is separate from your use of the Service. We do not send your account details, profile, learning history, community content, feedback, contacts, or advertising identifiers to song-generation tools merely because you browse, play, save, or study a song. If a future feature lets you submit personal information or content to an AI tool, we will explain that processing before it occurs and update this policy as appropriate.
Purchases and subscriptions
Singdu uses Google Play and RevenueCat to offer, validate, restore, and manage Singdu Pro purchases. They may process your Singdu account identifier, product and offering identifiers, purchase and expiration status, transaction or receipt data, entitlement status, app environment, and related technical information. Google Play processes your payment method; Singdu does not receive your full payment-card details.
Advertising and privacy choices
The free version of Singdu may display banner and interstitial ads supplied by Google AdMob. Singdu Pro removes these Singdu-served ads. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized as permitted by applicable law and your consent or Google account and device settings. Where required, Singdu uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request and record advertising privacy choices before requesting ads. You can revisit available advertising choices from Settings → Privacy choices.
How we use information
We use information to: • create, authenticate, secure, and support accounts; • save and synchronize learning progress across devices; • personalize song discovery, vocabulary, difficulty, and learning features; • operate profiles, posts, reactions, friendships, reports, and notifications; • provide YouTube-based playback and user-controlled lyric-learning tools; • pair with and synchronize user-selected KTV receivers and connected screens; • select, deliver, limit, secure, and measure advertising in the free experience; • respond to feedback and support requests; • detect misuse, protect users, enforce our Terms, and maintain reliability; • comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights; and • understand and improve the Service using aggregated screen-view and interaction metrics, feedback, and operational information.
Depending on where you live, these activities may rely on performing our agreement with you, your consent, compliance with law, or legitimate interests such as operating, securing, and improving Singdu. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent, subject to applicable law.
When information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. The free experience uses Google AdMob, which may use information to provide personalized advertising only where permitted and consistent with your available consent and privacy settings.
We may share or make information available: • to other users when you use public profile, community, reaction, or friendship features; • to service providers that host, authenticate, synchronize, secure, or deliver the Service; • to the television, browser, or other receiver you select when you start a KTV session; • to Google for advertising delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and consent management in the free experience; • when you direct us to connect with a third-party service; • when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, prevent harm or fraud, or protect rights and safety; or • as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate protections.
Firebase and Google services
Singdu uses Google Firebase for authentication, cloud data storage, push messaging, analytics, and crash reporting. Firebase may process account details, stored app data, installation or app-instance identifiers, screen and product events, crash diagnostics, IP addresses, and technical request information on Singdu’s behalf. Google may process information in countries outside your own.
Release builds use Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to protect Singdu’s backend from unofficial clients, tampered apps, fraud, and abuse. Google and Firebase process an integrity token and signals used to assess whether requests come from a recognized Singdu app, a qualifying Google Play installation, and an eligible Android device. Singdu uses the resulting attestation to allow or reject backend access, not to create an advertising profile.
RevenueCat
Singdu uses RevenueCat to manage purchase status and Singdu Pro access across sessions and signed-in devices. RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement information on Singdu’s behalf and may receive an app user identifier and technical information needed to provide and secure its service.
Email delivery
Singdu uses Resend to deliver account-verification email and internal community-safety alerts. Resend may process the recipient email address, display name, delivery metadata, and report details sent to Singdu moderators as needed to deliver and secure those messages.
Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform
Singdu uses Google AdMob to provide ads in the free experience and Google’s User Messaging Platform to manage advertising privacy messages and choices where required. As described above, Google automatically processes and shares identifiers, IP address, approximate location, app and ad interactions, ad requests, impressions, clicks, consent and attribution signals, and diagnostic and performance information under Google’s own terms and privacy practices. Singdu uses test ads in development builds and does not intentionally request Singdu ads for users with an active Singdu Pro entitlement.
YouTube
Singdu displays YouTube thumbnails and uses an embedded YouTube player for song playback. When these features load, YouTube and Google may receive information such as your IP address, device and app information, playback interactions, identifiers, and cookies or similar technologies used by their services. That processing is controlled by Google and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.
Singdu does not host YouTube videos or receive your Google or YouTube password. You can avoid YouTube playback data by not playing embedded videos, although this may limit karaoke functionality.
Push notifications
If you allow Android notification permission, Singdu may send notifications about friend requests and activity on your community posts. Firebase Cloud Messaging processes an installation identifier to route these notifications.
You can turn off Singdu notifications at any time in Android system settings. Signing out unregisters the current device from Singdu community notifications.
Storage and international processing
Signed-in account, progress, profile, community, feedback, report, and notification information, together with temporary KTV browser sessions, is stored using Google Firebase. Information may be processed in countries where Google, Firebase, or their service providers operate. Privacy protections and legal rights may differ between countries.
Where required, we rely on safeguards provided by our service providers and applicable law for international data transfers.
Data retention
We keep account and cloud learning data while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service. Community content, reports, feedback, security information, and operational records may be retained for as long as necessary for their purpose, dispute resolution, safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
KTV browser session records and messages are short-lived as described above and are not linked to your Singdu account. Expiry prevents further session access before Firestore completes its time-to-live deletion.
When data is deleted, limited copies may remain temporarily in provider backups or logs until overwritten under standard retention processes. Public content copied or captured by other users may remain outside Singdu’s control.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent or complain to a data-protection authority.
You can update your display name and profile photo in the app, control playback and history preferences in Settings, revisit available advertising choices under Settings → Privacy choices, choose whether to grant notification permission, sign out, or continue with limited guest access. You can also manage advertising personalization through applicable Google account and Android settings. To ask about your information or exercise a privacy right, contact privacy@singdu.site. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Account deletion
Signed-in users can request deletion from Settings → Delete account. For security, Singdu may require a recent sign-in. You can also request account deletion outside the app without reinstalling Singdu.
The in-app deletion process removes the Firebase Authentication account, the RevenueCat customer record used to manage purchase access, and associated Singdu profile, profile photo, learning progress, community posts, reports, feedback, friendships, user blocks, notifications, and push registration records. Some related information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or material retained where required by law.
Children’s privacy
Singdu is not intended for anyone under 16. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age to use the Service or consent to the processing described in this policy, that higher age applies. Singdu does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the applicable minimum age.
If you believe someone below the applicable minimum age has used Singdu or provided personal information, contact privacy@singdu.site so we can investigate, restrict the account, and delete the information where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information, including authenticated access and access-control rules for cloud data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links and third-party content
Singdu may link to or display material from third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. Review those policies before providing information to them.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Singdu changes or legal requirements evolve. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide reasonable notice in the app or by another appropriate method when changes are material.
